Saskatchewan Physician Health Program
About: Provides confidential assistance to physicians, physicians in training, and their families who may be struggling with a variety of issues, including mental health, relationship issues (professional and personal), substance abuse/addiction, physician health, and work and family concerns.

About: Provides support to Saskatchewan Medical Association members who need assistance in responding to complaints, disciplinary proceedings, audits by external organizations, and who need support to resolve issues (e.g., conflict) in the workplace. All matters shared by members are kept strictly confidential and will not be shared with third parties — except with the express consent of the physician.

Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP)
About: Provides confidential and immediate support for any work, health, or life concern related to well-being, relationship and family, workplace challenges, addictions, legal, finance, nutrition, and physical health.

Availability: 24/7
About: Provides free, continuum of care ranging from prevention/early intervention through to very specialized treatment. A Saskatchewan resident may refer themselves by phoning the general access number or be referred by a family physician. To determine which services are most appropriate, a standardized assessment including a triage is completed. Services offered may include referrals to programming from other community agencies. Other human services ministries also make referrals and there are many collaborative partnerships established to provide services to common clients.

Continuing Medical Education (CME) Wellness Program
About: Assists physicians in their efforts to provide the best quality of patient care through effective continuing medical education programs. As much as possible, physicians are involved in planning, conducting, and evaluating all programs because continuing education is most effective when participants share in all phases of the program.

Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP)
About: Provides 24/7, confidential support for mental, financial, physician, and emotional wellbeing. They are available to answer questions about handling stress at work and home, parenting and childcare, managing money, or health issues.

Office of Student Affairs (OSA)
About: Provides a safe, welcoming place for students to explore ideas and work toward solutions in an open-minded, proactive environment. The Office offers confidential support and advice at “arm’s length” from the academic/administrative offices of the College of Medicine (CoM) and provides students with an independent and informal forum in which to clarify concerns, identify goals and explore options for managing or resolving concerns.

About: Responsible for providing non-academic support throughout postgraduate medical education. The office supports residents who may be coping with professional or personal challenges, and the Resident Wellness Coordinators help individuals develop proactive strategies around health and wellness issues specific for physicians. The office provides a safe and confidential space.
