Physician & Family Assistance Program 

(Partnership between Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association [NLMA] and Doctors of BC)

About: Provides a 24/7, confidential support to physicians and their families. The program includes a helpline, short-term counselling, and referrals to specialized coaches and therapists. They address issues related to mental health, relationship, career and life transitions, substance use, occupational health, and concern for colleagues.

NLMA Physician Care Network

About: Offers advice, intervention, assessment, referral to treatment, monitoring, and advocacy to support physicians and learners who may be experiencing issues within a broad spectrum of personal health conditions. This includes physical, cognitive, and/or mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and professional and/or behavioural issues.

Memorial University Faculty of Medicine

Employee Assistance Program

About: Provides free, 24/7 confidential support services to Memorial employees, retirees, and their immediate family members through TELUS Health. Services are available in-person, by telephone, by email or online and can cover various issues including personal well-being, marriage and family relationships, legal and/or financial assistance, child and elder care resources, workplace challenges, addictions, career counselling, nutrition, and health care advice.

About: Provides free, confidential real-time and/or appointment-based mental health service to full-time and part-time undergraduate and graduate students. Students can seek help and advice for concerns related to any school, health or general life issues including being successful at school, relationships with friends and family, stress and loneliness, and balancing work and school.

Office of Learner Well-Being & Success, Faculty of Medicine

About: Offers a confidential counselling and referral service to undergraduate and postgraduate medical learners covering a wide range of issues and challenges including stress/anxiety, school-life balance, depression, imposter thoughts and feelings, communication, relationship, medical issues, academic difficulties, career counselling, and financial planning.

Sexual Harassment Office

About: Serves all members of the Memorial University community. The Office works to prevent sexual violence through education, mitigate the effects of sexual violence, and identify methods for timely resolutions of complaints of sexual violence.

About: Provides free, counselling, health, and wellness support for all Memorial University learners including primary health care, counselling, health promotion, disease prevention, and wellness education. Services are offered in-person, via telephone and virtually.

About: Provides 24/7 helpline where trained professionals assist callers and connect them to appropriate service or organization in the community, including women’s centres, Violence Prevention Newfoundland and Labrador organizations, government departments, or medical and policing services.
